Respond to the following scenario using the knowledge you have gained from reading about Functional Area 2: Healthy.
When one of the children developed chicken pox, the teacher checked to make sure all of the others had been vaccinated. She found that one boy had not had any immunizations. For him to remain in the program he would need to be vaccinated. His parents refused on religious and health grounds. Furthermore, they said they would sue if their child was put out of the program. What should the teacher do?
I would have a meeting with the parent and director to see what stragiescwe could come up with to resolve the issue without the families rights being violated
In the event that a family refuses a vaccination for their child when the school requires that particular vaccine, the family should write a letter stating that they refuse the vaccines. The school should keep the letter in the child's file and if the particular state exempts vaccines than the school cannot put the child out of school for not having a vaccine. There is a difference between requirements and mandations and the family should be aware of the states mandates for vaccines.
According to chapter 2 Immunization is the most important preventative health measure. Schools are guided by the CDC guidelines and requirements for vaccinations.
In this scenario the teacher made her checks and found that a child had not had any immunization and parent refuses to get child immunized. Teacher should also know that even though it is required by law that schools requires vaccination for all student there is provision for exemptions. Most states grants exemption for medical and religious reasons.
The fact that parent refuses to have child vaccinated and decide they would sue, teacher must ensure that parent submit letter stating exemption reasons. Teacher should seek to get information about the laws of that particular state as it relates to vaccination exemption and ensures that the appropriate steps are taken before considering removing child from program.
In response to this scenario Immunizations .
it is imperative that every child within the program are immunized a variety of studies have identify the importance most recent, According to Immunization and Autism from page 67 from CPR, in 2013 where the CDC indicates that research shows that vaccination immune system to produce disease-fighting antibodies, information further stated that all children must be immunized to protect their health, the health of the other children. Hence regarding this information the family could file a lawsuit but empirical information defense differs.
